Praethos was born from a simple observation: the industries that build, power, and maintain the physical world are running on software that was never designed for them. Generic ERPs and horizontal SaaS tools force contractors, operators, and professionals to adapt their workflows to rigid, one-size-fits-all systems -- losing efficiency, accuracy, and intelligence at every step.

Why vertical beats horizontal. A horizontal platform optimizes for the average of every customer. A vertical platform optimizes for one industry’s reality -- its terminology, its regulations, its data model, its workflows. You cannot configure a generic system to understand NEC electrical codes, IOLTA trust accounting, or solar production modeling. Those have to be in the architecture, not bolted on after the fact.

Why AI-native. Industry-specific software becomes far more valuable when intelligence is woven into the workflow rather than added as a feature. An assistant that already understands the domain can draft the estimate, surface the right code, and flag the at-risk margin in the operator’s own language.

Why now. Large-language-model capability has only recently made domain-native automation practical, while most vertical incumbents still run pre-AI architectures. That gap is the opportunity Praethos is built to address: a platform philosophy of deep industry immersion first, then AI-native engineering, one industry at a time.
